The Chinese Lantern Festival on the last day of the New Year of The Wooden Horse 4712 is hosted by the Chinese Fine Arts Society at The Crystal Gardens inside Navy Pier Featuring The Golden and Silver Lion Dance by the Chicago Chinese Cultural Center. The Marketplace invited visitors and guests to browse and shop around for Red Lanterns which are meant to dispel evil spirits on the last day of the New Year, according to Chinese culture and traditional rituals for the last 4,712 years. The Chicago Fine Arts Society Performers and Musicians entertained the community public on Sunday afternoon. Brent Roman played the Drum Solo. In the afternoon, there was a Fashion Show showcasing Costumes of Imperial China which were borrowed on loan from TECO Westmont. The Flying Fairies Dance Troupe performed the Dance for Lotus Blossoms of June. Afterwards, the Jin Qiu Yue Dance Studio from Naperville, performed the Red Knot Tie Dance. At the end of the afternoon, the Bartlett Chorus sang traditional Chinese New Year Songs interpreted by the Chinese Hakka Chorus.
