14. Angeles Crest - HWY 2 - California - Panasonic SD1
2 years ago
Scenic images from Angles Crest in California, only about 20 minutes from down-town Los Angeles. in the afternoon Los Angeles were covered in a halfhearted mist, but once in the mountains it was clear and one could enjoy the clouds spilling over the mountains.

This is shot with my Panasonic SD1 / AG-HSC1U camera, it is the first time I have thrown this kind of complex images at it, and I must say that I am more than impressed with how well it handled these images.

Particularly notice the details in the long grasses and also in some of the tree shots, these little cameras really hold a enormous amount of details.

Interesting when rendering out the video I got "blinking trees" in some parts, where the details in the pine needles overwhelmed the data-stream, however after checking with Eugenia, I increased the peak data-rate and the blinking trees were resolved. Thank you Eugenia.

It is not the kind of scenes that one, specially foreigners like myself, would imagine in California.
It is hard to believe that there is a place like this near Los Angeles.

Yes, they are very scenic and I really liked the texture of the tree at 02:55 and some rocks in the following scenes.

By the way, this video also reminds me that the water flow, at 02:00, is a difficult image to be compressed.

After the water, you passe by tunnels.
I would have liked to see the moment when you get out of the second tunnel.

The image of bugs (?) at 04:45 is really beautiful.
Definitely my best favorite scene in this video clip.

    Loved the music, too.
It kept repeating in my head.

Bo, I have a huge smile on my face, what an extremely enjoyable video! You have a wonderful eye for the evocative. Might I suggest that you use the tripod a lot more often, particularly with scenery. The final part of the film was rock steady and the earlier was handheld and not quite so good. There are about three slightly odd cuts where the video wasn't right. Keep at it Bo. This remains one of my favourite (UK spelling) videos ever! Excellent and Thanks.

Thank you David, and YES you are RIGHT I should have used a tripod, I guess it was some kind of rebellious moment, I know better and have the same feeling as you did. and yes, I DID use the tripod on the end of the video... just goes to show that the sign of a professional is not always the camera but the use of a good tripod. (smile) Thank you for the comments, very much appreciated.
