Just before the holidays, the non-profit organization Purse of Hope set up a mobile shop inside the Total Attorneys office in downtown Chicago.

Purse of Hope was selling goods made by women in Uganda who escaped the torturous sex trade. Proceeds from the sales help support efforts there to help these women rebuild their lives.

One such effort is the Total Impact House, where these women now live. Purse of Hope and Total Attorneys combined resources and efforts last year to start the Impact House. This slideshow will be posted on the Impact House blog that covers efforts within the house and from outside to help keep it running.

At the house, the women are taking classes, learning trades such as jewelry making and participating in various therapeutic practices to regain their lives. Their stories are shocking, but their progress and their spirits are inspiring.

This sale was a way to give gifts to our loved ones, both here and in Uganda.
