Can you give us more details on the HDMI monitor?
  • Marty Wichtmann 5 months ago
its based on bruce allens monitor ( it uses the same board and LCD ) and i just created the case around it and bolted it to a tripod head so i could move it as neccessary.

    Heres some pics :

Nice, it doesn't look well balanced on that tripod head though.
  • Marty Wichtmann 5 months ago
with the tripod head pan/tilt tightened once its in position its fine. also paning and tilting is very doable, though it can be a little front heavy.. so for stationary shots the pan/tilt bolts are always tightned.

    Very nice setup ;)
PS. Why using a flip adapter without dof adapter? Or is there a diy 35mm adapter i missed?
  • Marty Wichtmann 4 months ago
that is a 35mm dof adaptor that flips the image for you, (so you dont have to do it in post or use mirrors ect to do it) it makes the image upright while recording.

I got the cam, the mic and the adapter. I all i need now is the rest. And this set-up is sooo affordable. I got a deal on the letus35 FE in the works for $400. I know the 'letus35 FE' is old-school, but so am I. Thanks for the inspiration!!!

I haven't seen a letus adapter up close (except in pictures) but by the looks of it and how its built, does it work like a periscope? Cause the image has to flipped from the focus screen.
  • Marty Wichtmann 3 months ago
i think it does, but i'n not 100% sure. either way, it sure works well :)

I've been looking at the HF10 though, what do you think? What made you go with this model? :)
  • Marty Wichtmann 3 months ago
when comparing to the HF10 the hv30 has 25Mbps video (HF10 has a Max of 17Mpbs)video. HV30 is in MPEG2, much easier to edit with ( or it was when i baught it )then the HF10 H.264/AVC format ( you may have to convert it before you can edit with it - resulting in a quality loss), plus i already have the Hv20 so i was used to how it works.

    - Marty.

I had a question :) I had to dig through my conversations to find you again - I don't know much about this, and it sounded like you did.

Is the difference in Mps have less to do with image quality and more with the format? AVC is much more compressed codec, right?

I'm pretty sure Final Cut can edit AVC without any problems - but I guess I better make before I make any decisions :) thanks!

I was under the impression that the HV-30 goes well with the Letus MINI..and not the extreme.
  • Marty Wichtmann 2 months ago
that might be the case, i have not used either. but it does go well with my letus flip enhanced :)

I was looking at the Cavision rod support systems and it looks like there are 2 versions of the RS-15IIM, one is 200mm and the other is 250mm. Which one are you using here? is it good?

how well does your Rode Mic perform? I was maybe aiming for Stereo Mic, but I figured supercardroid would be the way to go.
