District 7's Drew Geraci is always on the hunt for magical moments so he trekked out to the US Capitol to test out the Canon 1DC using only the AV mode on a night to day time-lapse shoot.
Generally when shooting a night to day time-lapse we use a manual stop down method and then process in LRTimelapse with tons of key-frames (or a bulb-ramper), but we decided to see what this camera could do on its own without having to put too much effort into the processing. We were pleasantly surprised after the RAW processing of the imagery... the AV mode worked incredibly! It beat out our 5DMK3's considerably. There were minor flicker areas in the sequence but by using GBDeflicker v3 it was easily removed and what we were left with was an incredibly seamless, vivid and smooth night to day time-lapse transition.
