School health initiatives can play an important role in addressing the challenges of child eye health and can contribute to the correction of refractive error. Part of the eye care service development program in Vietnam, in the southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau, has focused its efforts on school children by providing access to eye examinations and affordable glasses. The program has provided support for 56 local schools, screening a total of 32,747 students and training 1814 teachers and 68 eye health workers in eye screening skills.
