There's something about records, turntables, and manufacturing that looks great -- cheers on a cool piece of work!

Great work. Can you let a fellow filmmaker in on the cameras and color tweaking you did to achieve the look, beyond the film dust & scratches effect?

thanks! I shot with a canon eos 7d with a follow focus rig, and the interviews were shot with the pansonic HVX 200a. Looks were achieved via Adobe after effects using adjustment layers for levels and curves.

Hi, I like the filmlook in the manufacturing, the grading is great. Why didn't you use the 7D in the interviews? It looks very video-like, too sharp and the lightsetup is very bizarre.

    thanks!

I didn't use the 7D for the interviews because I needed quality audio. we used an xlr dynamic boom for that so the easiest way was to use the HVX.

Very nice short documentary, Nick. I really dig the topic and like your film work too. After Effects is a great post production tool, but a little heavy on the processing side when applying effects to long stretches of video. What's your hardware and software config?
You should look into recording artists that are true to the non-digital analogue ways of recording. I'm sure there is a story there to tell.

As a DJ I definetely praise the value of vinyl records.
Never realize indeed how the manufacture process was.
Each records is a wonderful piece of art, and doesn't fell great and kind of magic to have a vinyl record these days??
