Scotland was once a major centre of medieval pilgrimage. Today, little remains of this great pilgrim enterprise. Yet, all over Scotland there are new stirrings of interest in ancient pathways. People are rediscovering the power of pilgrimage.

In the past 25 years, Santiago in Northern Spain has seen its pilgrim traffic grow from 600 pilgrims every year, to over 200,000 annually. If this were to happen in Scotland, the culture and economy of Scotland's margins would be transformed.

This film takes a journey across Scotland, from east to west, to discover Scotland's pilgrim past - and its future.
