Not quite as epic as I had hoped, but I did it.
Thanks to all those on the flight who allowed me to do this!!

Did I mention that the last ten rows of the plane were all staring at me? Because they def. were. Oh well.

I talked to the very nice and lovely flight attendants in the back of the the plane, they talked to the one in the front, she talked to the pilots, then the flight attendants talked to the people towards the back of the plane, they all said it was fine, and there ya go.

    Everyone was so nice.

Do you have some sort of sick sponsor who gives you money to do stuff like this? Because that's the only way that I'd be able to something like this.
    Lots of money.

    Kudos for bravery though.
  • andre 3000 3 months ago
I wish i could use money as an excuse, but sadly, no, there is none.

I am just a stark raving mad lunatic.
(I have always wanted to use that in a sentence)

Dre, you are so, so ballsy. Especially when I think about what this looks like to people sitting on the plane: complete silence besides the hum of the plane, you dancing around to some unknown beat and mouthing words. The very definition of "crazy person," really.
  • andre 3000 3 months ago
I wasn't just mouthing the words, you could kinda hear me singing in the original sound from the video, so something tells me a good half the plane could hear me.

nice dance moves! and yes, perfect thumbnail

In the future, when tombstones are digital, all of these will be played in a loop and crowds will gather around The Lip-Dubber's grave in awe.
Also, that song will be considered an Oldies hit.
But none of that can happen for a long time because you still have videos to make.
  • andre 3000 3 months ago
    Wow, such profound words.

    I am deeply moved.
    Thanks Jason.

I wish something like that would happen on a flight I was on. It was awesome. Did you have the camera on a tripod or was someone holding it? Also what kind of camera, if I might ask... and any additional lighting?

I just haven't been able to get mine to be well illuminated clear and steady :o(
  • andre 3000 3 months ago
I have a tripod that I got at a thrift store, haha.
I use an old Sony Digital Handycam DCR-TRV330. It uses Digital8 tapes. I love it

I didn't use any additional lighting, and rarely do.

Ah Andre that's so great! We should now ask Davey to do a Dance Blog on a plane; otherwise this won't be beated ever!

    Where did you fly to?
  • andre 3000 3 months ago
I actually did get asked by one of the flight attendants if I was Davey. I told her no, but she kept insisting I was. Oh well.

Could that intro have been ANY longer? Sheesh, how funny. Once the public sees what you are up to-I think they actually become a wee-bit envious. Nicely done-
  • cayoyin 3 months ago
I AGREEEEEEEEEEE the intro was ETERNAL!!!!!
  • andre 3000 3 months ago
The intro music is somewhere around 56 seconds. If I had been able to do everything that I wanted, those 56 second would have been far more entertaining. Oh well.
  • Hoop-CA, USA 3 months ago
Bro-you rock. No worries. I could tell you wanted to cut loose-foot loose.
  • andre 3000 3 months ago
Hey! I've done that song too, hahaha.

  • andre 3000 3 months ago
It was right after they served the drinks after we reached 'cruising altitude' so I had another good 3 hours after that. Ha.

    I'm with Charlie Trotter ...

I stand in awe of you sir!

Viva Southwest! I flew U.S. Airlines recently, and the flight crew on the return flight was the most lifeless group of bitter zombies I've ever seen ... they never would have put up with your stunt.

Hooray for you! As Mr. Young says, "Keep on rockin' in the free world!"

Hope I'm on your flight someday ....

  • andre 3000 3 months ago
I've found that Southwest and Frontier are the most entertaining to fly.

Southwest: "In the event there is a drop in cabin pressure, mask will drop from the ceiling, put on your mask before helping your child, and if you have more then child, pick the one you think will be most successful first to help".

    Good times
