
Tibetan freedom marchers reach India's capital

A hundred Tibetan freedom marchers have reached India's capital New Delhi today. The Tibetan exiles staged a demonstration and are set to meet with their Prime Minister in-exile.
A hundred Tibetans-in-exile began the freedom march a month ago from Dharamsala, which is where the Dalai Lama and Tibetan government-in-exile are based. Their final destination is Tibet's capital, Lhasa.
According to Tibetan sources, Indian authorities detained the marchers in Kangra district on their way to New Delhi. Many of them were kept in custody for 14 days. The other marchers continued on and were joined by Westerners and nuns along the way.
In addition to demanding freedom for Tibet, the group is are also protesting the Chinese regime's recent crackdown in the region.
The marchers will meet with the Tibetan Prime Minister-in-exile later in the day.
