Wow! This video is so cool - I really like the way you've edited it. Looks like you had a good adventure there.

Seriously though, I love the editing! Good work Blake :)

I cannot believe that he didn't knock the table over (the first run) hahaha this looks like SOOOOO much fun! i love 2:40 .. LMAO 2:55 nice accent! hahahaha I like that at 4:33 you are drinking.

Man I watched this straight through and i loved it. I'm so jealous. It looks like SOOOO much fun. Your friend is pretty funny.
  • Blake Whitman 3 months ago
    such kind works Karen.

... and we were acting, there was absolutely no drinking involved... I don't do that kind of thing!
  • I know I know You're a real gentleman. :-) Drinking is for heathens.

now there's the cryptic Itin comment I so dearly miss!
  • Alex Itin 3 months ago
Well I'm sort of torn here by the brilliance of the filmmaking and sort of "ugly american" behavior it documents. Actually an interesting tension. In a work of fiction it would be fitting if you finally made it back to the hotel only to be ejected for fucking up the circular table ornament and had to pour back into the drunken opiate streets.

I can't wait for the above mentioned premier attraction for the context of this trip/evening....trip.

  • Blake Whitman 3 months ago
indeed, i too enjoy the tension. I contemplated (though only for a second) editing a less revealing storyline that wouldn't show us in the ignorant light it may. However, I felt that wouldn't be fair both to myself, and the actual events, and so I decided to put it all in. But I know what you mean.

The premiere I speak of is for this vimeo.com/682570 which you've seen.
  • Alex Itin 3 months ago
You could edit the two films together and run a line about the quest in India... a sort of cliche place to go for a quest...
but here it becomes for samosa and some more snow.

If you chew that gum and say them real fast it sounds about the same... and of course both quests take you higher and higher...

    and the ring of fire.
    Endless bummer.

Funny that you wanted salvation from Jesus in India... so many Gods to choose from!
  • Alex Itin 3 months ago
oh and the radio tuner thing works really well
  • Blake Whitman 3 months ago
salvation can often be entangled with Maya and its many forms, both within and without. Few can ever really tell the difference.

I find my quests take their own shape... and I become a witness to the story.

    Or so I've read.

That was awesome Blake, great music, great cuts, nicely paced. Probably my favorite thing I've seen of yours to date, only wish it was longer.

  • Blake Whitman 3 months ago
Thanks Ray! But you haven't gone through all 125 of my videos now have you!?!

    haha...
  • Underground Planet 3 months ago
How do you know? I might not have any life at all. I may simply just choose to live vicariously through you and your vids. I might just be sitting here with a pack of cigarettes, a cup of coffee, and a bowl of stale Fruity Pebbles wearing nothing but a silk robe and a smile watching your vids over and over and over and over ....

Okay, so the coffee and the cigarettes part is true but the rest of it was the funny bit. And no, to be fair I haven't watched em all, yet. But I did have the disclaimer "that I've seen". =)

Blake, you've posted some pretty cool videos on here, but this is by far the finest. Thanks for making it. It rocks. Wish there was more of this type of thing going around Vimeo. I feel slightly inspired to make more travelogue-ish vids. Nicely done.

Hmmm, I just realized I never left a comment on this video.

Blake, dude, this is one of my favorite videos on this vimeo-thing. I think the most successful videojournal/travelouges are the ones that make you nostalgic and miss being at the place in the video...when you weren't even there. When it was finished I was like, man, that was fun, I'm glad we went...Oh, wait, I just watched a video, nvm.
  • Blake Whitman 1 month ago
    I appreciate the kind words.
