Students in New York shave their heads and stage a mock attack on monks in protest at the Chinese regime treatment of Tibet.
University and high school students, as well as other Tibet supporters, gather at New York's Union Square to protest the Beijing Olympics.
[Tenzin Gaphell, Tibetant Student]:
"So we're here today because the Olympics is used by China as a political tool to gain global acceptance, to whitewash its human rights record. So China is just basically using the Olympics as propaganda, which it shouldn't be used for."
Some students have their heads shaved and others stage a renactment to represent the Chinese regime brutality towards Tibetan monks.
[Maura Moynihan, Tibet Supporter]:
"The treatment of the Tibetan people by the People's Republic of China has offended and outraged the conscience of the world, so the next step is a boycott of the products and services of all of the corporations sponsoring the Olympics. That's Nike, Adidas, McDonalds, Samsung, Volkswagen, the list goes on."
Overseas Tibetan students joined in to show support to their fellow Tibetans imprisoned and to those who risked their lives during the recent Chinese Communist Party crackdown in the region.
