Epicenter Léogâne, Haiti
Tuesday afternoon, January 12th, one of the worst earthquakes to hit Haiti in 200 years struck less than ten miles from the Caribbean city of Port-au-Prince. The initial quake was followed by twelve aftershocks greater than 5.0 in magnitude. Structures of all kinds were damaged or collapsed, from shantytown homes to national landmarks. The Pan American Health Organization estimates 50,000 to 100,000 died in the 7.0-magnitude quake and Haitian officials believe the number is much higher. See The Full Feature at zMultiMedia.com.
