See all Show me
One of the primary purposes of this video was to film in 30P/cinemode - to try and rid of the jaggies that I encountered in my Long Canyon project during the export process, and to see what cinemode looks like. When I exported, I left the deinterlace source button checked and I bumped up the RGBs manually to 115 all the way around.
Q. I would still prefer more color as compared to what I am seeing through the Canon (is this possible or is it me wanting the perfect color?) and I like the cinemode look. Any thoughts? Is the color fine on your end?

I found frustration in filming at the zoo. The crowds, getting bumped while filming, uncooperative talent, the smudges on the glass separators, I had to hurry to keep up with our group, etc. From the standpoint of the video, it's fairly sloppy as you'll see. However, I was successful in ridding of the 'jaggies' and I am quite pleased with the "full screen" appearance of the final product.

The shots of the warthog and cacti are awesome!

I understand that was a tough shoot man. And the hot weather certainly did not help I am sure. You don't have a filter for the 30 yet, do you? I think that would have helped cut down on the brightness and given a little more detail. I also loved the shot of that cacti with the redish flowers. And what was that cool animal standing on its hind legs, feeding in that tree? That was cool. When I try to shoot at the zoo (and I have only done it with still photos, not video) my goal is to take pictures that hide the fact I am at the zoo. I think it looks better when the shots don't show the wire fence or the concrete walls. Like your shot of the bear in the water. But I know you were going more for the family zoo trip aspect and I understand you were very limited with time and weather and your camera set up. Good job overall. Maybe a few filters and a telephoto lens could help in a shot like this.

no, no filter yet. I wasn't wild about this to begin with-but was more interested to remove the jaggies (interlacing). With that aspect in mind, how did it appear on your end?

Hoop, the quality is just fine. I do not see any relics or jaggies. Looks like you do not have to deinterlace when shooting in the 30p mode available on your HV30.

Can anyone that is viewing this on an HD output source provide any feedback on the output viewing quality?

Looks generally good but in some of the scenes there's overexposure. Try to manually override the exposure at times (especially with very contrasty scenes like flowers). Or did you manually bump up brightness looking at your description? With cinemode I would not recommend that given that it will further contrast unless you're going for that effect.

You may also want to try the neutral picture effect and compare it to cinemode.

You don't need cinemode to remove jaggies (30p does that).
