I didn't make it all the day long as at the beginning. Kind of hard I have to admit, specially when you're with someone else.

Charlie's one (wanted to test after that great one) : vimeo.com/815741

Better with headphones.

interesting bit of video... simple but powerfully effective editing... the beginning and end were nice ideas for bookends!

You can, for sure, and it would be superb since you would add the color/ cool shots/beautiful shots touch.

So well done. I like the prolonged clip at the beginning, you're adjusting to being awake, and bam, away you go. Great job.
  • Remyyy 3 months ago
Merci Ben ! I have to say that's how I am on my morning routine (here it was the week end). To win a couple of minutes, I not intentionally planned almost everything I'm scared sometimes, ahah.

Felt a little like requiem for a dream.

The "daily routine" is a subject oft attempted, but you've done it well.
  • Remyyy 3 months ago
"Requiem For A Dream" changed my life. This part you're referencing is probably one of my favorite parts of every film I saw. I can't deny it's something like me trying using the idea (not comparing at all of course)
  •
  • Ahhhhhhhh this is awesome! The sound is really key I think. I want to try one of these but I have a big lunky camera. I have a feeling you guys are using smaller models
  • Remyyy 3 months ago
Thanks ! My camera isn't really a small model, ahah, and it wasn't really easy to do, specially in the subway when people are waiting after you trying to film when you pass the ticket through the composting ticket (don't know the name of these things).

Awesome, love the intense action driven tonal editing. It conveyed a sense of ever increasing complexity in your day, even though all the individual moments seem equivalent. All the crisp sounds infused every clip with an intricate story all its own, like we already knew the rest of the story. Second the bookends idea, classic.

  • Remyyy 3 months ago
I'm not sure I know how to translate that, but I can say thanks !
  • Jason Stallings 3 months ago
He means hot fuzz as in the movie.

The director, Edgar Wright, does that in a couple of his movies.

Such as, Hot Fuzz and Shawn of the Dead.

Powerful cut! Watched it three times.
IMHO a couple of longer frames would be good. Just IMHO :)
  • Remyyy 3 months ago
You're probably right, I wasn't sure if I should make the same time for every shots or making some really longer, or what I made, really short but not exactly the same.
  • sekl 3 months ago
I am glad what I have written makes sense :)
I was doing the same job for a trailer two months ago.
I tried to make the video fit the phonogram. So, the shots eventually were of almost the same lengh.
But I found it monotonous the next morning. So I had to add some 'dramatic art' to the clip and extended some general or key plans. IMHO it helped. Perception improved.
    Thank you.

you can superimpose this big-city lifestyle and rhythm with the rhythm of a village in a hellenic island during the winter. Where nothing happens...

I too, though of the movies "Shawn of the dead" and "Hot Fuzz" when I saw this clip.

However, this is really nicely done. I'm most impressed with the sound editing. Without a good soundtrack, this wouldn't be half as impressing as it is. Great work!
  • Remyyy 1 month ago
Thanks ! I'll have to watch Hot Fuzz. Never heard of that one before reading about it here.

Well, it's pretty common technique now a days. I suppose Darren Aronofsky was the first to make it popular (maybe someone else can think of an earlier example) but you've proved that you can do it well.

There were a few spots were the auido seemed a bit awkward when you tried to cut in little sound bites of him talking.

    good work.
  • Remyyy 1 month ago
Thanks for your comment ! Snatch who was released the same month I think used that same technique. Not as beautiful as in Requiem for a dream but still.

    SACRE BLEUR!
how many shots in total and how long did you film each of them for? ITS SO MAGNIFIQUE!
  • Remyyy 1 month ago
Ahah, I have no exact idea of how many shot it's doing (not that much I think) and I'm too lazy to count. In fact, I had the camera with me all the day and took something like 5 seconds of each of them (sometimes I repeated my action a couple of times to capture it "correctly")
