The NSW Wader Study Group Shorebird Monitoring Progam has been running in Botany Bay, Sydney, Australia, since 2001, during which teams of volunteers and the NSW Office of Environment and Heritage and others have been engaged in counting and keeping a watchful eye out for a range of vulnerable shorebird species. This video explains what's happening, why Towra Spit in Botany Bay is such an important site for shorebird conservation and how the community can help make the life of a shorebird a lot easier. OEH Senior Natural Heritage Officer, Debbie Andrews, also explains a bit about the extraordinary life of the Bar-tailed Godwit.
