When attending Sundance, one should wear a hat, gloves, scarf...and three pairs of socks. (I actually saw a women wrap her feet in plastic bags to combat the slushy snow.) One should also check out the coolest exhibit at Sundance: The New Frontier on Main Street. 13 artists from across the globe packed together in an immersive underground lounge to showcase their art, films, and visual presentations to festival-goers.
hitRECord was the highlight of the New Frontier. Headed by actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt (500 Days of Summer), hitRECord.org is an online community of artists that create, record, and remix each other's art (video, music, photos, writing, etc.). The first of its kind, hitRECord is now a legitimate production company. By accident, Dan and I stumbled upon their rec room and interviewed producer Jared Geller. On the 24th, we were fortunate enough to attend their sold-out showcase and presentation. (I think the 5D makes people think we're press!)
The thumbnail above is actually a street painting by the British graffiti artist Banksy. Rumors speculated that Banksy was in town since he had a documentary about himself playing at the fest. The mural was on a building along Park City's Main Street.
The song you hear was also recorded live on Main Street by the Salt Lake City group Bramble. They rock! The song is called Colors and is streaming at myspace.com/bramblemusic
This trip was on the best experiences we could ever imagine. Thanks for watching!
