You can make this kind of display yourself, from any MIDI file, using this player:

  • pretty good sound and arrangement for MIDI. Bit tricky to capture to video, though. Spent an entire evening dicking around with different settings and tunes.

"Capture to video"? Am I missing something? Why not just download the m4v original?
  •

Uh-oh ... the audio suffered somewhat in the M4V-to-Flash conversion ... if you want to hear this the way I recorded it, you'd better download the M4V original (it looks better, too).

it is so funny to see something so emotional and creative in such a mechanical way as midi bars. the velocity, duration and timing all in colorful sequence. Glad to see it is being used well

Have you considered creating a 3D system that would illustrate volume, phrasing or other musical characteristics?
  • musanim 2 years ago
    In a word, yes.

how do i download this on my ipod?
  • musanim 2 years ago
First, sign up for a Vimeo account. Then log in, and go to this video. There should be a "download" button, and what you download should be an m4v movie that you can play on your iPod. Let me know how it works. (Best to email me directly, since I only check Vimeo every month or so; go to musanim.com to find my address.)

The download doesn't want to play with any of my programs. & it doesn't want to work on my iTunes either, which makes me disapointed :( I think that the Flash Video version won't work @ all for me unless I have a program to convert it. Help pls?
