ps. When do we get your seasons 2 and 3??? :) ;)
just curious, was all camera work by hand again or did you use something to help stabilize the camera? Thanks
Did I catch some inspiration (bw to color) from "A Single Man"? :)
What kind of camera, shooting time, post production...?
Curious
Lutz
cheers

Appreciate any tips.
Just beautifully executed! The colors, the moves, the cuts... I counted at least 30+ clips of less than 2 seconds, synced perfectly to the music. Stunning filming performance, followed by exquisite editing.
Bravo!
I shot on the HV40. I had to do a lot of color correction in post to get the colors to look right because they kept changing the lighting non-stop. Just tinkering with the post got me the colors. Thank you!
But Matthew, get rid the the director at the end, I think that's an anti-climatic end. End on the dancers, way more powerful.
You did a great job at hitting downbeats and musical cues. The video is the perfect length too! This is just sensational Matthew - congrats!!
I'm so envious of you. Kudos, Matthew!
Especially loved the turn from B&W to colour upon the tempo change... Great editing!
Matt
I really liked what seemed to be 'moving' lighting during the B&W rehearsal section at the top.. really nice pacing and of course that great transition to performance/color (almost Tarrantinoish) you did a great job of building the pace which draws you in even more! great color effects as well!
bravo!
That was amazing.
so from Eugenia blog I came here to see this video, and it started to attract me from the beginning.
since your "finger gymnastics", I was confident this video would have been interesting. An original intro, let me say.
the slow pace at which the first part evolves, perfectly fits with the music, calm and preparatory for the start of the dance show.
i'd like to point out that the stronger feeling for the audience, for me at least, isn't the B&W to Color transition, but the pace change of your edit, following the Vivaldi's rithm.
Performers soul comes out of this video, where you used great techniques...i just miss a stage view from above ;-)
there are a couple of points where this video shows an unplanned storyboard, as you say, it is handheld and reportage style, but looks more staged. So the hard post and editing work really makes the difference.
I also found a class touch the "finger end" at 02:14, recalling the start !!!
Showing the Director at the end not only has a strong image impact, but also fits with the purpose this video has, not a test as many here on Vimeo.
To summarize, I'm just a newbie at filmaking, and hope to follow you on the hard way of audience appreciation.
Keep up the good work ;-)
