Proteo is a project that deals with the transmutations among three essential elements: Animal, Man,
Machine. Those take the shape of a horse, a man and a motorcycle, respectively.

These transformations are performed by only an actor placed outdoors in a unique sequence shot. The actor
changes his appearance while drawing up a circular motion movement around the camera.

In order to execute these changes we have deemed appropriate adopting Leopoldo Fregoli’s transforming
strategies, and his art of changing, that in this case helps us bringing to standstill time-spacecoordinate.

The presentation consists of a loop, in a double video projection. In them both are shown the two unique
combinations among these three elements. Two cyclical systems that dialog one another as false reflections; being in consequence one the reverse of the other.

This way, whereas one of the videos shows, in an evolutive point of view, a supposed logical order of mutations (animal, man, machine); the other one puts in crisis the dynamics shown before by working on the opposite way (animal, machine, man). Together, both videos work as a double temporary movement –of comings and goings- where this luck of representation of nowadays Proteo is framed.
