I wrote “Cross My Heart” for my best friend who just recently got married this past summer. It’s a song about two people’s journey and their relationship together with each other and with God. I was just trying to convey the transparency of someone that struggles with loving themselves as opposed to loving someone else ... and getting that strength and inspiration from the love that God has for us. And regardless that we’re fickle a lot of times of loving God or not, that God completely loves us and gives us grace and mercy. And because of that we can love someone else with that same kind of love. When we get married, we can love that person like our own body — we should take care of that other person like our own body ... to protect it and cherish it.
