On the parking lot of the Canadian Forces Naval Reserve Division on the shores of Lake Ontario, new recruits train to become battle-ready for any aggressors that may approach from the South, as last happened in the war of 1812. Yesteryear's aggressors have become ever more lethal, but nowadays tend to visit their military might on helpless countries in the Middle East. Canada has understood a long time ago on which side its toast is buttered. Perhaps for the lack of a real threat, recruits are becoming ever more creative as they develop marching routines that would not be out of place on a theater stage. It is unlikely that the Conservative government has been kept apprised of these recent developments in the country's Navy. The marching routine will compete for best contribution to Canada's military nationalism 2014. It remains unclear whether Canada's military or Canadian nationalism is weaker.
