Clary Illian discusses her early influences in this, one of the special features on the DVD "A Year in the Life" the biography of Clary Illian.
Illian is the former Leach apprentice who's made her career in small-town Iowa.
She still throws pots in Ely, Ia.
Other Special Features on the DVD include:
- Over 150 slides of Clary's work in a looped slideshow
- 5 minute Interview with Beth Lambert, an Arkansas potter and former apprentice of Clary's
- Another short interview with eastern Iowa potter Bill Robbins
