This film explores the history of Japanese-American anarchists living in the Bay Area at the turn of the century, the construction of "monsters" of the state and the desires/rage of queer monsters. It screened at Spirit: 100 Years of Queer Asian American Activism and MIX NYC 2013 and a host of other spaces. Much of this piece is sourced from over 50 daikaju film productions and one television show. I animated and produced all of the original footage as well as edited and manipulated the appropriated material. The audio for this piece was composed and produced by my good friend and incredible sound artist Kaori Suzuki.
I downgraded the quality so that free vimeo will take my file. I have to say that I hate the pay grades in this video community as it economically restricts the quality of output from low-income and underemployed artist professionals and is creatively prohibitive (which when you think about it is antithetical to what these websites are supposed to endorse).
