    nice work!
what camera did you use for this video?
  • Salazar plus 2 years ago
it was shot on a cannon 7D at 24p. We mostly used the EF-S 17mm - 55mm f2.8 zoom but had some primes as well.
  • Wow! Fantastic piece of work. Ive been a photographer for years but have recently become obsessed with making videos. I'm trying to figure out what to buy (or if I should buy at all and just rent) and I was wondering why a DSLR was used as opposed to a traditional video camera for this video?

Sidenote; For anyone who's curious about this topic like I am, there was a basic primer on DSLRs on AE tuts in Feb 8th post.
  • Salazar plus 2 years ago
We used a 7D because of it's amazing performance at high ISO. The interior cave shots were done with only flash light and the camera set to ISO 2000.

Another factor in the decision to use the 7D was it gives 35mm like depth of field without the bulk of a 35mm lens adaptor. Most of our projects are shot using an HVX200 and a Red Rock Micro 35mm adaptor. The 7D gives the same depth of field in a package that weights about a 1/4 of the HVX.

I want a 7d, this is inspiring. Would you be up to show a behind the scenes - setup of your shots and why use certain lenses when making your videos....that would be sweet. Just a thought from a Fan in Houston!

so... in revenge for cutting the tree the forest cloned the girl with the knife and then had the clone kill the original? or what? i'm confused. not that music videos usually make sense anyway. or need to, i guess. also why is the song called "Shaved"?

    i LOVE this :)

plot twist: the girl with the cut throat is not the same one who carved the symbol into the tree (intentional or not)? or am i just seeing things :) one of the best music videos i've seen in a while. i also like the vignettes you've made for the other tracks on the Shaved EP, similarly eerie feel going on with those.
  • Salazar plus 1 year ago
the girl with the cut throat is the same girl as the one who comes out of the cave. They are twins. The girl comes out of the cave and see's her twin dressed as the blonde haired girl who cut the tree
