When considering the possible impact of advanced artificial intelligence on the future, most futurists use anthropomorphic reasoning about AI behavior and motivations. I argue why these assumptions are a potentially dangerous way to approach the challenge of engineering human-friendly AI, which could be the most important challenge of this century.
