A glimmer of hope for lung cancer patients. A new personalized and genetics-based treatment is set to be tested in Britain!

A number of patients with advanced lung cancer will be included in a trial which could be a part of cancer care revolution. The ground-breaking technique is based on the idea that the genetic makeup of a patient could guide their cancer treatment. The trial at the Birmingham Women's Hospital will test several drugs with a new understanding of the genetic structure of cancer tumors. If successful, doctors will be able to target each patient's cancer by preparing a drug specific to their tumor. The technique could later be extended to treat other types of cancer.
