Can anyone weigh in on 1:09, 1:24, 2:52, 3:31, 4:27, and 4:42?
? after Ali might be Dawn of the Dead (I'm like 85% sure)
After Monster is Irreversible
Actor Benicio del Toro is the same, but the movie is different :)
But FARGO?? C'mon - that came out in 1996 !!!
The women before "StarWars-Revenge of the Sith" is Amanda Seyfried. Not sure but the movie could be "Jennifer's Body".
Closer
This is England
Billy Elliott
V for Vendetta...
Gutted that Being John Malkovich just missed the cut!
The film after Ali was definitely Dawn of the Dead. It was the scene where Ving Rhames' character was holding a sign saying help is not coming, while lots of zombies were below.
Are there any ideas about which movie comes right after Mystic River (4:26)?
Everyone has really filled in some holes in my list. I got most of them but there were some big ones about which I had no idea!
and the oceans movie is the first one, 11
my only peeves are that the fast and the furious isnt here, the sequels all sucked but the first one was awesome. and, how is crash not here? it only won best picture
-28 Days Later... (American production company okay, but English director, filmed entirely in England, no Americans in the cast)
-City of God
-Sexy Beast
-Shaun of the Dead
-Amelie
-Swimming Pool
-Dancer in the Dark
-Y tu mamá también
-Once
-Audition
-Che (American director and star okay, but rest of cast is predominantly foreign, and production companies are foreign, and most of the film is in Spanish)
-District 9
That's 10 percent of the list. Perhaps more could have been included, sure. There were certainly some much better foreign films that would have fit nicely in this video, but I'd hardly say there's not representation outside of American films.

great job as usual!
1. Crash (the Haggis film) was one of the worst of the decade -- if not all time.
2. Fargo came out in 96, Malkovich in 99
3. Closer & V for Vendetta are quite American
4. I did not "forget" or "miss" any titles. Some were excluded because the point was made (LOTR1 was enough, Planet Terror signified Grindhouse, Shaun of the Dead covered the Pegg/Frost duo, etc etc etc). Also, just having AI & Munich was enough to illustrate that Spielberg rocked it this decade.
5. I use what I can get my hands on. I can get my hands on what I own. I own what I like. With the exceptions of LOTR & Gladiator, that's what this video is. Furthermore, this is the mainstream list of what I like. I have friends who made films this decade, but didn't seem appropriate to include them, Savvy?
6. Music. The choices are from films, from the decade. Good? Good.
7. Still feel unjustified? Make your own! No, really - MAKE YOUR OWN! I love montages. Show me how it's done.
8. To the rest, I love & thank you all.
Regards,
Bill
I do wonder why there wasn't a single animated feature though (Pixar films, Shrek, Miyazaki films, Persepolis, etc.).
How many of the music tracks were written before the 00's?
Stagnation. Safe business decisions. Fear. Here's to a better 10's
Great edit, though. I hope in 10 years you have better material to work with.
My only criticism is I feel the clip right after Monster where the camera is upsidedown. Personally I'd prefer half a beat more of the camera right-side-up, it feels like it cuts into the scene halfway into rotating, just a little more context. I'm not familiar with the film, so I'm well aware the footage may not exist.
My question (and it's just that, a question, no hidden criticism) is was there a conscious choice to not include animated/CG features--other than Avatar? I'm just curious about your process. Personal preference? Didn't feel they would flow? Would have just made it way too long? Something I'm not even thinking of?
The upside-down shot is from "Irreversible" -- I do not believe the camera is ever right-side up (possibly through the whole film...)
I get the animated/pixar complaint often. I use the films I own, & I simply don't own any of them. I enjoy them tremendously, & the main focus of these videos is to keep them recognizable, accessible, and inclusive. So, I can admit, ultimately, that the exclusion was a gaffe. That being said... there really was no way to include everything.
Again, thank you for the thoughtful comment.
