Some people have a gift for initiating conversation with strangers and walking away knowing their full life story! That would be Sam. Other people struggle to keep conversation going beyond a few pleasantries and then it fizzles out like a bad firecracker on the Fourth of July . . . ah, hem, guilty!
The good news? Engaging someone in conversation is a skill that you can learn and develop with some practice in order to have open and intimate conversations. There are three keys to encouraging someone to open up: 1. Become a master of asking open ended questions 2. Reflective Listening allows the other person to FEEL heard and 3. Seek to find the connection which establishes trust.
