A man (Brian Bacon) leaves his place of refuge; Looking concerned and bewildered staring at his lover (Maria Rouzzo) as she sleeps. He leaves a note to her that he will “never" come back again. He goes down the stairs softly but at a fast pace. He comes to the door to the street, takes a long breath in. Walks outside…. as the door closes, the note appears. Streetlights tower over him. He is in search for something else, something to fill the empty void in his heart. He has the overwhelming guilt of leaving as he has for the millionth time.
He needs to free himself, free from others around him. His heart runs a heavy pace. He is reflecting on what he is doing… Looking at everything around him as he is pacing away from what he once knew to be safe. The man is questioning his choice. She awakens to find him gone again, and the note has disappeared. She goes after him. He is absorbed with the overwhelming emotions of his relationship which he knows has reached an unhealthy, addictive state. She grabs his arm, the man panics and chokes her to death. He acts as if she is a figure of his imagination, and walks away. Discerning whether he actually committed the act or not he walks hastily, coming to a door where he finds the same word "Never" has been following him and eventually puts him in the same state in which he left his former lover. Regardless of where he goes, the very thing that he abandons will always chase him down.
