Episode 6: Wealth and Power
In this episode, we begin with a glimpse into William Randolph Hearst's private library, stocked with leather-bound rare editions and arrayed with authentic Grecian vases, urns and amphorae -- some even dating back to Homeric times.
We then venture into Hearst's private chambers as well as those of his estranged wife and of his mistress, the Hollywood starlet, Marion Davies. Both women were former showgirls and devout Catholics, as evidenced by the profusion of Catholic iconography on their walls.
Finally, we proceed into Hearst's gothic private study, noteworthy for the imposing, Orwellian portrait of the man himself staring at onlookers from the far wall.
