can you tell a little more about how you approached this project? how did michael respond to the work? did you shoot this all on one day? and did you do any kind of prep work with michael before shooting (such as spend time with him without your camera)?
Already on kayaksurf.net (videos section)
kayaksurf.net/videos.html
It shows us what is capable the immensity of the human soul.
I am a french waveskier and your video is inspiring to me a lot of passion. Thx so much Sean and Mickael.

Humbling and inspiring.
A masterpiece!
I saw this film last week and were really moved, As a kayaker and kayak /canoe instructor, I am often asked why I spend so much time on the water..... this film is a really great answer......
I have linked to this film on my own facebook profile, and on a couple of kayaking forums, all of the responses have been great. I will email you with the links so you can read them for yourself, maybe you could pass the on to Michael..... he really has inspired and touched many people.....
Thanks to you both for allowing us to be inspired
Mike
PS. one of the forums was in Denmark..... maybe that is were Bertil found the film ?
This really made my day, and reaffirmed the connection of good people with the ocean. THANKYOU!!!!!
Congratulations to both Michael and Sean.
let's makes something together..
I’ll never complain about the class 4 put in again.
I think about what would happen if his access to the water was curtailed and he got a handicapped spot next to the snack bar 200 yards from the water.
Access to water is a birthright, but most of you know that already.
Paddle fast, live slow.
Also consider contacting American Whitewater, and the ACA. I think both organizations would be interested in buying/using you film to further their cause of open access to water.
I'll check into that...
Do you know the name of the festival?
What a remarkable man.
Thank you for the kind words and the wet suit offer. It's so nice of you. I will pass your generous offer on to Michael.
Have a lovely evening.
I passed your info onto Michael but I have a feeling he may be to humble to contact you.
I'd love to arrange the suit for him with you.
If you're up to it please drop me a line at my email
sean@transmissionfilms.tv
Have a great day.
Maybe we can surprise him.

The filmaker: Your film is the best i never see.I like all,the black and white, the music, the angles of filming, the rhythm, the history...whit few things you catch my heart in yours hands.I am a waveskier, and cried when my wife traslate to my the final speeks ..tanks,men.
What a wonderful film thank you. I have a blog called Kayaknoise.blogspot.com. I would love to post Birthright if that is ok with you. I'm a kayak designer and the blog is about what we do as designers and people that inspire us paddling. I also have designed several surf kayaks and have a friend who is also in a wheelchair who uses one. He is another inspiring story.
Thank You
Spike Gladwin
Watching it reminded me that our birthright is actually the freedom to strive for independence on a human level and the chance to reach our full potential. Your friend's disregard for inconvenient obstacles is motivating.
Michael ispires us all and yet it is so natural
to try to struggle and to give his best .
president obama used the words " yes we can"
i don't know about my self, but about Michael
it is obvious he can , so do you sean a
brillant moving state of the art photography work
Thanks for sharing those precious moments with us
Nathan
If I have any chance to get in touch with him too, so he could add some words to the video... that would even be more extraordinary... you can contact us at triwww@triwww.com - or here through Vimeo...
Thanks for this beautiful video... as not only the story is moving, the video is also wonderful!
Isa
Continue filming Michael surfing on her waveski, the portuguese waveski riders want more videos. :)
Just in my blog: wavesurvivors.blogspot.com
To be able to capture the shear beauty of an individual defying odds and I believe Kristina's comment above said it best, your friends 'disregard for inconvienient obstacles' is inspiring.
I have a friend who was blinded from wounds sustained while overseas and he has been defying odds much the same. Once a climber, he has already harnessed up and started tackeling the walls simply by touch. This story would be incredibly moving for his family to watch and I will be sure to pass it on.
I'd love to talk with you more about your friend. After the overwhelming positive response from this film I am thinking about making more films along the same line.
Your friend's story is compelling and I'd be interested in learning more.
You can email me at sean@transmissionfilms.tv
Hope to hear from you soon.
Best
Sean Mullens
Makes me apreciate more the fact that i can just kayak without strugling.
Thanks!
the things others take for granted, are the most difficult for others. but the want and desire is there in all of us.
i'm stoked you've hijacked it for the drift site.
i'm a big fan and visit your site often.
nice one...please keep drifting.
It is persons like that that deserves to be emphasized because they have something to tell and gives us envy to continue and to persevere. Amayzing
I really enjoyed the last cockler...inspired and beautifully shot.
keep on keeping on.

Your words leave me inspired.
Thank you for pointing me in the direction of your blog. I was honored that you would include our film.
You sound like an amazing person. I would love to speak with you sometime.
I love your concept of ADAPT-abilities. Have you considered writing a book?
Have a lovely evening.
With your friend's permission, send this to the short film choice they show in cinemas before the main feature starts. It is so much better than what you would normally see.
I'm not familiar with "the short film choice". I googled but could find nothing. Do you have any more information?
We are organizing the Amstel Surfilm Festibal and would like to invite you to enter our short film competition (The Surf Film Contest). There are 1500€ for the winner. Check the rules out at surfilmfestibal.com and let us know if you need more info! We need talent like yours!
Cheers and keep surfing, no matter how!
we'd be honored to enter the film into the festival.
we are currently working on music rights and it seems we may be a bit long on time. Our film is almost 6mins long.
How firm is the 5min rule?
We will look at a re-cutting to get under 5 mins.
I'm sure he would say that he's just living his life as he must, but Michael's courage shines.
I've posted a link on my site. Mahalo.
