The team from CMU shows us their project, a version of D&D that runs on the Microsoft Surface. Earlier we dispatched a few orcs before coming into this cave and encountering.... well what will in the next build be a mini-boss.

    it's not THE future, but A future. All this does is turn D&D into a board game, if you want a dungeon crawl, there are games like Descent from Fantasy Flight Games that would be much better to convert to surface. D&D needs to be more RPG, ROLE playing, not CRPG. All this surface does is electronify a game that requires imagination to play, effectively removing imagination.

    D&D was originally derivated from Chainmail, wich was an actual (probably the first) strategy, heroic fantasy boardgame.

    If you want immersion and imaginative RPGs, try simpler games ! I've never seen a game as (unusefullly) complex as D&D...
