There continues to buzz around chimeric antigen receptors (CARs), a potential immunotherapy for the treatment of CLL and also some other conditions. Many patients are excited about the developing approach to treatment that uses a patient's own engineered immune cells to treat their cancer, but the research is still in its infancy. Dr. William Wierda, a CLL expert from MD Anderson Cancer Center, shares his thoughts about where we stand CARs and explains what research still needs to be done to help ensure its safety and efficacy.
