Prev week
and after becoming fat they become more lazy, and it works like thay lazy->fat->lazy->fat->lazy->fat->boom.
Which camera was used the most? A rough indication would be great! Thanks!
We used the 7D for almost all of the dialogue and the 5D for our wide shots. The 5D's full frame sensor can get you some amazing wide shots!
I am in market for a DLSR that does both stills and video but can't decide between the FF or 7D APS-C, decisions, descisions.
On the film :
All I have to say is two things.
1. Excellent execution on all fronts !, Well done !
and
2. Why is gas $4.00 on Maui where I live and $2.65 wherever you are !!!, please tell me that what the set decorator going for a period piece : )
Love and Aloha, iamKP-
This definitely had to be a labour of love. All the little nuances... The cabbie doppleganger - genius. Even down to the clerk's tannoy voice, 'have to prepay after 10...' just awesome. (and love the way he looked the mystery guy up and down). Well done.
Congrats, you got my vote... it is the best story of all 5 in my humble opinion.
Great work!
Q: How and in what did you recorded audio (dialog)
In terms of the audio, we recorded everything to a separate digital audio recorder and slated everything to ease the syncing in post.
More importantly, I was lucky enough to work with two really talented audio guys here in Minneapolis. Patrick Schaefer did production sound, and Daron Walker did the post mix. It's all about working with good peeps, and these two guys fit the bill!
what mics did u use for the audio recording?
What I didn't like was the transition from the still to your colored version which I think looks too much different and artificial and doesn't fit to the professionality of the rest. I would have prefered to see that still changing into the green of the surveillance monitor immediately.
Other than that I enjoyed your version very much. Good, humorous acting and a story without endless running scenes or looong scenes just to fill 4 minutes ;-).
viva MPLS
cheers

I'm compiling a few images/clips now. Nothing crazy, but it's something! Will post it soon.
*Loved the shots with the wide angle on the truck :)
Congrats!!!
I think the big thing people are missing here is your first comment. Sure it took two weeks to do this project, but HALF OF THAT was writing it. And it shows. Kudos.
main thing .. great story .. humour ... and great look `!
i hope you dont mind answering a quick question ..
what lenses did you use and what lens did you use at 1:20 and2:56
thanks and congrats on your win !!!
Thanks for watching. We shot both of those scenes on the 5D with a 16-35mm f2.8 lens. The camera was up on a 12-step ladder for that wide shot of the guard walking across the warehouse lot. For the truck shot, we rigged the camera to the side of the truck (photos coming soon!)
its hard for me to decide which wideangle to get .. maybe i should go for the canon 16-35 ....
i have been looking at just getting like a 24mm zeiss prime ...
:-)
One question, was this in 24p?
90% of the film was shot on the 7D, which was all shot at 24p. We used the 5D here and there, which only shoots 30p. The plan was to do a frame rate conversion on the 30p footage, but we ran out of time. If you look closely, you can see the 5D shots stutter just a bit. Let's hope for that 5D 24p firmware upgrade soon!
In every aspect, right from the opening scene with the control monitors.
Well done guys.
That's the way to shoot for no money...
See you on the way up!
My only complaint is that I had my kids excited about this competition. They were even dreaming up how they'd write the next chapter. But, not exactly a video I want to make sure they watch.
So... nice idea Canon... but too bad you just cut out the families following this project.
