After 32 nights of a PEOPLE PROJECT "Safe Sleeping Space" on the Eureka City Hall parking lot (for people who need a place to sleep free from harassment, theft, arrest, ticketing, and physical abuse from the police), and after a raid by over half of the Eureka Police Department at City Hall on the 33rd night -in 25 degree weather (see youtube.com/watch?v=GKriQYCQMiI)... this occurred. PEOPLE PROJECT was sharing hot dinner on the edge of the City Hall parking lot next to a bus stop and payphone. The police continue their campaign of harassment.

The cop who barges in, ready to have someone arrested, is Sergeant Mike Quigley of the Eureka Police Department. He's notorious for abusing people on the street. The other cops, the one who made the arrest, EPD's Aubuchon. The one who said people need to check with the City to find out where they can "legally protest" (ha!) is EPD's Rolofson.

California Penal Code section 602(q) is a trespassing charge that is completely inapplicable here. According to the code, someone would have had to be in the BUILDING (City Hall) with no lawful business to pursue- to be trespassing. No one here broke any laws, nor did they have an obligation to give their name to the cops.
