Norwich was established in the 17th century. Buried in its small cemetery are over 50 revolutionary war solders. Samuel Huntington, a signer of the Declaration of Independence and the President of the Continental Congress, is buried here. The parents and family of Benedict Arnold are also here. Homes dating back to the 17th century still adorn the town green, a living picture of revolutionary times. A short walk away, we find abandoned homes, poverty, drug users, and buildings in disrepair. The port on the Thames river is gone. Down the river a giant tower fills the sky. The Mohegan Indians who once traded Norwich for a hand full of beads, now own a multi-million dollar casino that shines in the face of a dying city.
