The Senate Education Committee rejected Senate Bill 669 by Sen. A.G. Crowe (R-Slidell) that would have established a commission to develop performance standards, curriculum, and assessments for English language arts and math in public schools. In this video, Brigitte Nieland, the director of LABI's Education and Workforce Development Council, testified against the bill because it would have delayed school accountability and caused uncertainty and disruption for students and teachers.
