Man, that was fantastic. It's got a really interesting visual look to it because of the stop-motion. Fair fucks to ye.

Some questions if you wouldn't mind answering them:

The shots where you're 'tracking' after the character - did you get him to pose specifically each time or did you shot quick consecutive frames?

Also, did ye rent the camera or is it yere own 'cause I imagine that amount of work would put a lot of strain on the sensor?
  • Souljacker 1 year ago
Thanks Paudie, most shots where the camera pans with the character we shot bursts of about 60-90 quick consecutive frames at about 3fps... we also got him to alter his movement slightly which I think helped create the strange feel, as for the gear I used my own camera 350d for some tests then borrowed a friends 400d for the main shoot... I don't think that it would put too much strain on the camera ... at least I hope it didn't anyway :)

How slow was he moving while walking?
  • Souljacker 1 year ago
Hard to describe really, very slow ???? through tests beforehand we worked out what looked good for what we were aiming for, only way to figure it out really
  • Austen Lavery 1 year ago
That is what I had imagine, and I must say, I think you pulled it off magnificently. No other way would have suited the video better, in my opinion.

Lovely stuff guys - I kind of want to see it enlarged to full 16:9 - use the whole frame and give it a little more scope.

great rhythm to the motion too - real nice

That was really cool. Amazing location. Better than Radiohead video. The end is a bit disappointing, what happened to the girl at the end of the "pier"?

The effect you get from the frame by frame walk reminds me of those dreams were one is trying to run away from something but can't. Like a heavy gravity pull, love it!

Some really nice work. His movement is so strange but works really effectively. Tell me SOOOOOOUUL Jacker, where was this filmed?
  • Souljacker 1 year ago
    Thank you Irrum!

It was all shot up around Loch Dan in Co Wicklow:

    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lough_Dan

A little difficult to access but we were thankfully light on gear - camera, tripod and a couple of sandwiches...

This is beautiful, also gutted you got to Lough Dan before me.
  •
  • Reminds me somewhat of mute films from the 1920s, I don't know why. Probably because of some of the staccato movements.
