Israel Ben Yahuda owns an – literally – underground record shop on Fulton Street in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn. The store specializes in old soul, funk, blues, R&B, disco and jazz vinyl albums.
In an age of diminishing music sales record collecting is growing in popularity. Many collectors say vinyl has a warmer, richer sound than digital audio.
Israel has speakers outside his store, which draw passersby downstairs through the sound of his music. Regular customers stop by weekly in search of original and hard to find albums.
