2nd time playing with the Letus Mini and the Canon HV20. My 6 year old is always willing to shoot so I used him again. Took him to the park at around 11am and shot for 20 minutes . For lens, used a Canon EF 135 lens and set the aperture at 2.5. Pre-recorded him singing and was playing it back for him using my iphone during the shoot. I am updating the video with some beach scenes from this weekend. Enjoy!

it took me about half the video to realize that it was actually him singing, not michael !! great job , the kids got a lot of talent and he's only six. looks like a star to me, especially when he's not shy of the camera.

oh and the video quality is outstanding

Ha ha ha. Thanks Pyro! His piano teacher also had the same impression until he realized it was him. He's only 6 and has a lot to learn. He's no young Michael yet. He does love to sing and has the drive. I'm just lucky he is game for me to record and shoot video without him saying "Let me see the lcd screen"! I have found a new hobby in striving to do the best I can with my consumer camcorder and loving it.

Thanks Roger. We did notice something's up. My kid is really good in Hockey but its endless ice time and training. But music just come to him . We started him on piano and see what sticks after that.

Hi Ronnie, Awesome Video! The kid has talent.
Question: I have a letus and some canon lenses.
How do you set the aperture on your Canon EF lenses? I heard that they are "stuck" unless you set them using a still camera...

Hi Alex , see my reply to your question on my next post.
    Thanks,
    Ronnie

    Hi Alex, thanks.
Yes, by default, the lenses when detached go to it's shallowest DOF so if you have a 1.8 it stays at 1.8.
To get around this, you need to attach the lens to a canon DSLR. Power up. Go to Av priority mode. Set desired Aperture. Press the DOF preview button - next to the lens. WHILE pressing the button down, detach the lens from the camera. This will retain the aperture setting for your use with the 35mm adapter. Hope this helps.

You're the man! thanks so much. I'm thinking of buying some glass now. It's so crazy that a 50mm 1.8 is $90 but a 50mm 1.4 is $350... I have a lot to learn about. My last question: Is there any place to find fully manual canon EF lenses? Most have autofocus feature which is unusable...
  • Ronnie Silos 11 days ago
Don't look for Canon EF lenses. You should look for Canon FD lenses. Those have manual aperture rings. You will also be surprised how cheap they are compared to the Ef!
I guess Ebay would be a really good place. Just stay with sellers with perfect feedback.
