Familia AMURTEL is a small family style children's home started by a Swiss volunteer of AMURTEL, Gopi, affectionately known as "Mami" by the children. The home was started in 1995 to offer a loving alternative for a first group of 10 children that had survived the inhuman neglect of the communist state institutions. In 2000 another group of 10 children arrived from a maternity hospital where they had been abandoned after birth. The young people are growing into expressive, creative young adults and already several have begun the process of integrating into adult life. There are currently 14 young people living in the home.
