Really, that was great. You guys submit that/win anything?
Great Work!
Super 16 it is, then.
'Chickamauga was shot with an Arri SR-3 w/ Super Speed lenses although rarely did I choose to shoot wide open. Many factors dictated that decision including depth of field, focus constraints for any ac and weather conditions.
With regards to the Bolex and Arri-S, each camera/lens package provides a very distinct look. I've shot w/ both somewhat extensively and found goods with the bads. One prime example would be the Bolex c-mount lenses. Although some may like the general soft palette and quality to those lenses specifically, I found them quite unfavorable more times than not. However, for one sequence, I further enhanced the softness which enriched the scene immensely. The more common issue I personally have pertains to the body's shape and weight. Essentially, it's a little too convenient in the "street photography" realm for its lack of scale and weight. Handheld can be difficult resulting in an avoidance of fluid-like movement. However, don't let the above deceive you. Each camera can benefit the production as long as it's accomapanied w/ a good sense of lighting and design. I can not stress that enough. The camera/lens doesn't make the movie....the crew does. Keen eyes, an understanding of story in relation to light, etc. all define moviemaking. The most important thing is to learn... always know you're a student of filmmaking learning something new each and every day. I always remind myself of that. - Damian'
Great Cine work and acting.
Cheers - Duke.
totally awesome until the end.
The Story does not really conclude to the complete satisfaction of the viewer but taken as 'Chapter One' it is pretty compelling.
A rare and wonderful Vimeo experience.
Good luck to All concerned,
Bob
gets this fiction's connection to reality
And also, this story is probably based on a true story because there was a crematorium that dumped dead bodies in the woods nearby Chickamauga and they discovered the place, they found hundreds of dead bodies that were claimed to have been buried.
My dad was an investigative FBI agent on that case.
When I lived in Chattanooga and was still working in news, I covered that crematory story (for what seemed like an eternity). I look forward to Sahkanaga.
Again, really well done.
