The show this week was packed with guests and live performances.First in the studio was Jim Gillespie from the Civic & arts Foundation of the Union League Jazz Improv Scholarship Contest.
The finals are being held at Buddy Guys Wednesday February 17th. Jim discusses with Mike how the program got started, some of the past winners and how it has helped to grow young jazz musician’s careers.
Next on the show was vocalist Ariana Savalas who is performing at Davenports Friday night February 19th was in the studio discussing how she got started in music, her passion for composing and the influence her father, Telly Savalas had on her passion for performance and art.
Ariana will be traveling to New York next to perform at the Metropolitan Room, then to Palm Springs for a concert.We are looking forward to her debut recording that she begins production on in April.
Throughout the show lePercolateur, a Chicago Gypsy Jazz group, was featured in the Avenue 950 Music Lounge. Basically the house band for the evening lePercolateur performed original music that will be featured on an upcoming recording.
