An abridged history of removable data storage. I've left out a few formats, which I'm sure the geeks out there will pick up on! Made with After Effects, Maya and Photoshop.

Thanks to Shawn Hazen at bookworship.com for letting me use a couple of his book jackets, and to Steven Shook at flickr.com/photos/shookphotos for letting me use a vintage postcard of his.

Soundtrack: Fringe Element (Short Like Me Edit) by Beni.

I really like this. Scary that I am old enough to have actually used punch cards and all of the other tools in the video. Brought back lots of memories in the data bank I use most often!

what about the vinyl lp, hard disk drive and dvd? even if this is a brief history, they certainly should appear.

I love Evolution of Tech vids on youtube, but yours really ROCKS!!! Best in class...

Encore request: Maybe you could do a follow-on with evolution of commercial storage products, from mass storage/ DASD into the present?

Thankyou! Glad you liked it. It'd be great to extend this idea or do something along the lines of your suggestion... maybe if I get the time.

this is great! Real catchy and nostalgic. Any thoughts of continuing this to the future beyond Blue Ray?

Yes, it took a month of playing around to get there. That soundtrack was driving me insane though!

Hey man you misspelled encyclopedias at 1:30. Aside from that it's perfect.
