A seminar by Sandra Hall and Lee Griffiths of Friction Arts, Birmingham, UK, about their recent residency in Johannesburg. They collaborated with South African artists Anthea Moys and Kyla Davis on the Square Mile project, commissioned by Visiting Arts and the British Council. They produced a series of playful interventions with inner-citizens, examining themes of crossing thresholds, safe and unsafe space and biodiversity and sustainability. The project focused on an area around Joubert Park and Johannesburg Art Gallery, who also hosted the artists, workshops and exhibitions.
