Tens of thousands of university students come to this city to prepare for their futures, to begin their journeys as young adults, and to sort out the big life questions like: "Who am I ?" and "What am I going to do with my life?" and "Where is God--if there is a God--in all of this?"
I could be describing Knoxville, Tennessee. I am, however, describing Szczecin, Poland--the home of Loren and Christina Ozanne. The university students we met in the Ozanne's home last November had all the same questions, dreams, hopes, fears, and expectations that our students experience in Knoxville. However, there is one all-important difference: less than 1% of the population in their city knows Christ. Only a few sporadic opportunities exist for them to hear the Gospel and experience Christ, the hope of glory, being expressed in His people- the Church. Of these opportunities, none are presented in the English language-- the most common shared language of the international students. What a sad dilemma.
We are strengthening our relationship and partnership with the Ozanne's so that we may participate with them in leading university students to the Gospel through planting an international, English speaking church in Szczecin. What a challenge! What an opportunity! What a time to Engage!
