Received my brand new Canon XH-A1 yesterday so here's a short clip with my first footage from it. Shot in 50i and de-interlaced in post. Some minor colour correction done.

Happy to hear any feedback, tips, critiques etc ... I'm stoked with the camera so far but want to get so much better!

The video stutters in places but only on Vimeo - not sure why that is .... the music keeps playing so it doesn't seem like a performance issue.

Any ideas or tips?

aturcios ... if you mean the shot at 8 seconds with the blurry truck going past - that was done with using a slow shutter speed in camera.

Hey Stephen,

I've found using -3 Gain is helpful. On the XL2 0 gain was fine but the A1 seems noisier at 0.

Get lots of hard drive space for all the gorgeous footage you'll shoot! :)

Nice shots. The color is incredible. I haven't been able to reproduce color quite that dramatic using the A1 without slipping into a cartoon look. Any tips on that?

Looks really great! One question, though. If the desired framerate was 25 fps, then why did you shoot in 50i and then deinterlace instead of just shooting in 25f mode? Just wondering. But again, this really shows the camera's true potential. Nice work!

hey. i have noticed from the comments that everyone is getting an A1 in the few days after sending the message....i wont betting mine for some time as i am only at about $1,000...so im still a ways away. but any more tips. like programs you use so that i can head straight into on recieving my a1. i noticed you said you use an xl2 also. my film partner has one. any tips on how we can make some good films using our cameras together????
