Day 2 with my new Canon XH-A1.

Here's a short clip shot on the A1 in 25f.

The video stutters in places but only on Vimeo - not sure why that is .... the music keeps playing so it doesn't seem like a performance issue.

Any ideas or tips?

Ive also got stuttters, and that's on almost everything I watch on Vimeo, which is a real pity!

You may find you need to let the video buffer a little first. As a matter of course, I always press Play and then Pause it for a couple of seconds to allow enough video to have downloaded to make playback stutter free. Hope that helps.

those colors and the light scheme are amazing. What are you editing with in 25f mode?
  • Matt E plus 2 years ago
    Hey Schubert,

For this test I edited the footage using Cineform Aspect HD v5 and Premiere Pro 2.0.

    Cheers.

No stutter on my end. It looks absolutely gorgeous. Would you mind going into detail about your preset settings and any touch up you did in post?

    Thanks

    Hey Matt,

Thanks for the feedback on the stutter problem ... still trying to figure it out on my end.

No custom presets used for this footage, just some minor colour correction in post.

didnt you use some kind of vignette to blur out the edges?

    Beautiful footage Matt,
    What aspect ratio is that?
  • Matt E plus 2 years ago
    Hey Stephen,

I cropped the footage using a 2.35:1 (Anamorphic) preset in After Effects.

    Oh, more cinematic eh!

looks good... sometimes the stutter can depend on your computers setttings. If your using a laptop especially. If you have vista, you can turn the power settings to "high performance". if not, it might be that your "RAM" is overloaded. so restart your computer :)

The stuttering may be a result of vimeo player doing 30fps when video is not 30 fps, so it compensates by doing jumps every now and then. If video fps is higher than 30, then it skips. Thus breaking smoother playback.

yeah this sounds like the prob

I think there also my be an issue with some frames being lost. That's what it looks like to me.

i cant get the shots clear enough, im still learning the camera tho but ,its bugging me haha, and color correction has been a big thing for me for post productions, cant seem to get good color correction in final cut, i dont have magic bullet or anything tho
