Well, after 10 years, I have collected a lot, but I do not have a source for each one, and besides, web sites come and go, which is a real issue for non-core add-ons. The UMN is the best long-term repository. There was a float and a mutli-thread issue with plugins prior to 2.44, which has now been solved for all the ones at the UMN site. Others, well...check BA for links as well, search for "plugin". Yes, good plugins get rolled into the base code, so you may find a plugin that does the same as what is now core functionality. I also listed the top 20 plugins in my wiki page: wiki.blender.org/index.php/Manual/Sequence_Plugins

This series is great! I am learning things about Blender at a rate very accelerated compared to my normal speed. I never thought I would be comfortable with Nodes, but am already enjoy using them, and am comfortable with them. I am watching the videos multiple times, and learn something new each time. Thanks very much, PapaSmurf.

I can't get the text aligned with the camera,
it aligns with the ground plane even when I'm in camera view.
    What am I doing wrong?

Hey Sebastiaan! There are several ways to get text and the camera to face each other. First, you can just move and rotate the camera to face the text. Second, you can rotate the text to face the camera. Third, you can go into camera view, click, and add the text, and it will be aligned automatically (assuming you have the preference set in your user preferences to orient created object to the current view). Or, you can add a Track-To constraint to the text to always point toward the camera.

If the text is aligned with the ground plane, I would put the camera at about 10 z, and remove all rotation from it using the camera's properties panel. It will then be pointing straight "down" at the text. You then just have to move the camera around in top view to get the text positioned how you want. Or you can move the text. Usually you move the camera to get things to fit in frame, simply because that is what you do in the real world :)

thanks for the clear explanation PapaSmurf
In the video you can see the text being automatically lined up with the cameraview... I guess the preference isn't set in blender by default.

the fact that it didn't do the same thing as in the video tutorial threw me a bit off ;)

I'm just starting to get to know blender.
